MAAC: Methods for Acceleration of Ageing and Corrosion Tests
 
Summary

 MAAC is a proposed project within the EUREKA network and constitutes a unique opportunity for your company to develop its competence and methods regarding Accelerated Ageing and Corrosion Tests. Participating companies so far are large Telecom, Truck, Automotive electronics and Testing companies. The project now seeks one or more European producing companies for participation before start-up.

 About the proposed project

Because of the pressure of the market, the time between the idea of a product and the production decreases. There is a need for better and more severe corrosion and ageing tests in order to shorten the lead-time of products. The purpose of the project is to develop methods for these tests. The suggested project now consists of three Work Packages. The scope of the project can be modified after your companies needs.

WP 1 Pre-contamination followed by environmental treatment

This part of the project will develop a life time prediction method using pre-contamination followed by environmental treatment. It will further develop a current method used for mobile phones which will contribute to better product quality.

WP 2 Development of High Accelerated
Corrosion Tests based on ISO 21207

The objective of this Work Package is to modify the existing test method in ISO 21207 in order to reduce the test time by 40%, which will be a large cost and time benefit for companies using this and similar methods. It will be examined, through accelerated tests for some reference material supplied by the participating companies, if the acceleration factor in the standard can be changed.

WP 3 Development of a test method for a Highly Accelerated Salt Mist Test

The aim of the WP is to develop a test method for a Highly Accelerated Salt Mist Test. This will help manufacturers of electronics to make products with a better resistance towards corrosion in salt mist environments using a testing time of about one week.
