| FACTORY BESTPRODUCT - TENEEST |
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
|
 |
Product testing, generally known as Environmental Engineering (EE) started mainly after the Second World War. The purpose of that testing was to obtain a good product. Until the end of the century testing evolved mainly in order to produce an always better product and only characteristics directly linked to the technical and economical aspects of the product were examined.
Nowadays it is the objective of EE to help the designer and the manufacturer in producing the "BEST" product taking into account all relevant aspects "from cradle to grave" related to it and its production process. EE is a multidisciplinary and integrated approach. Not only technical aspects (reliability,..), economical aspects (service time,..) and financial aspects (production costs,..) but also human aspects (health and safety,..) and ecological aspects (waste, energy, recycling, sustainability, ...) are considered.
A "BESTPRODUCT" provides an optimized harmony with its environment and serves market needs as well as ecological requirements. |
| BESTPRODUCT-TENEEST |
BESTPRODUCT-TENEEST stands for "BEST PRODUCT Through an European Network on Environmental Engineering (EE) Sciences and Technology". The project has received the Eureka label E!3517 and is aiming at a durable integration of EE experts in a "European Network on Environmental Engineering Sciences and Technology" (ENEEST). This network is mainly focused on the stimulation or creation of communication channels, co-operation opportunities and joint research activities.
Across Europe several EE experts are working hard in numerous research and test centres to simulate in an appropriate manner various environmental influences (e.g.: vibration, shock, EMC, climate testing, ...). The scatter of knowledge, the squander of intellectual energy and the spread of the means are of that nature that the overall effectiveness could be highly improved. Indeed, a remarkable amount of individual knowledge of experts has been built up in the past and huge amounts of money were invested in test facilities which are almost not available because of a lack of information.
In conclusion there is an urgent need to merge in a network the knowledge of highly qualified specialists and the technical capabilities all over Europe and to use that expertise especially in the production of consumer products with the final aim to obtain a "best product".
A short description of BESTPRODUCT-TENEEST project is given in following summary.
First initiatives are:
- setup of an electronic European skills directory for product testing;
- exchange of R&D proposals and ideas in the field of EE
|
| An e-competence catalogue with provider information and an inventory of current projects is available. |

| PARTICIPATION TO BESTPRODUCT-TENEEST |
If you are willing to actively participate in the BESTPRODUCT-TENEEST project or wish to be involved in the European Network on Environmental Engineering Sciences and Technology (ENEEST) please express your interest by the registration process.
During the registration process suppliers and users of environmental engineering technologies, equipment and services can indicate their specific EE field of interest |
